where it STARTED

ORIGINS: BEGINSof a Movement

At the United Nations first-ever Youth Climate Summit on October 2, 2018, OneMillionOfUs was officially launched to the public. Throughout 2019, WaicUp co-organized the UK’s largest climate protest, bringing together 100,000 students in a mass demonstration for climate action. Building on this momentum, the organization collaborated with Indigenous leader Chief Raoni to present a petition of 111,475 signatures to the UK House of Lords. This effort contributed to the successful halt of the West Cumbria coal mine and led to a 1,567% increase in online engagement with UK climate policy.

PRom At The POLLS

In 2020, we launched a campaign in partnership with Voters of Tomorrow called Prom At The Polls. An initiative giving our generation the unique prom we lost due to the pandemic, while turning out to vote. We reached over 3.2 million young people nationwide through this campaign.

We HALTEd the Uk's First DEep CoalMine in 30 Years

Mobilizing over 111,475 petition signatures, WaicUp.org successfully paused the proposed West Cumbria coal mine in the United Kingdom and raising engagement with UK climate policy by 1,567%. [UPDATED: As of 2024, due to our continued advocacy the proposed West Cumbria Coal Mine has been halted]

We called on elected officials to bring young people to the table.

Through the innitiative YouthInGov, OneMillionOfUs called on elected officials to establish an Office of Young Americans within the Executive Office of the President for young people to be a part of the critical policy decision making processes.

No One Should BE denied the human right to love

Through WaicUp's Legalize Love campaign, we partnered with the United Nations to advocate for persecuted queer refugees. Our efforts reached over one million people and led to the UN’s first recognition of LGBTQ+ communities as vulnerable to climate change.

The Climate Reporter: Frontlines to the Headlines

The Climate Reporter active in over 12 countries platforms narratives and perspectives by indigenous tribes, communities at the frontlines of the climate crisis and young people around the world who are working to advance social justice in their communities in the small but impactful ways they can. Connecting young people's stories into wider media we ensured underrepresented young voices are a meaningful part of major news outlets coverage in global dialogues.

In 2024, we rebrand into WaicUp.org where our previous campaigns: Legalize Love, OneMillionOfUs, The Climate Reporter, School Strikes for Climate, Stop West Cumbria Coal Mine are supported under one banner. WaicUp.org is a hub for social impact and innovative ideas which advocate for greater social equity, support activists and visual artists, defend for marginalized voices globally, raise awareness holistic perspectives.
